The Energy-Bot: a generative AI algorithm for optimizing production and domestic consumption

ABSTRACT: The Energy-Bot (EB) project by Futurasun, created in collaboration with the University of Salerno, aims to develop a system for the smart management of energy for a residential prosumer equipped with a photovoltaic solar system with storage capacity. The EB operates through direct commands to the inverter to modulate the flow of energy to and from the grid, as well as the charging and discharging of the battery. The generative algorithm takes into account weather forecast data, historical and forecast energy prices, and load profiles identified by the inverter itself. By accounting for the actual state of charge (SOC) of the battery and the renewable energy share of the energy that can be bought from the grid, the algorithm determines the distribution of future energy flows that maximize the financial return and the battery state of health (SOH).
The implementation, which currently occurs via the Modbus protocol, can be adapted to various standard reading and writing protocols, making it applicable to a wide range of automations aimed at optimizing domestic consumption
